Teaching Practice

Procedures of Teaching Before teaching, I had to make lesson plan in accordance with Philippines lesson plan format. Their format is different from the one that I have in Indonesia, so I learned how to make it first. The English teachers in NIPSC Laboratory Junior High School (LJHS) at that time were very good in guiding me. I made the detailed lesson plan, so I should also include script dialogues that I would use in teaching and the expected responses from my students. After I finished my lesson plan, I gave it to my cooperating teacher and then she would give me some comment and suggestions for the improvement of my lesson. When I was done, I passed the final version of my lesson plans to my cooperating teacher and then I could start teaching in the class. I was not allowed to teach without the presence of my cooperating teacher, it was the rule of the school. She had to be in the class whenever I taught my students so that she could give me comments, suggestions, and to c

Teaching Methods of The Teacher that I Observed From my observations, I can conclude that the teacher uses learners-centred teaching methods. Here she becomes a resource rather than the authority. The teacher explains materials and then encourage students to think and understand it more by asking almost every students in the class. The questions are also related to real life situation, so it is really meaningful learning activities. She is also very good in coaching students to speak English well. During the lesson, she can make students laugh but at the same time she also can make students silent if they are too noisy or speak dialect. Their Learning Materials and Innovation Most teachers use the books which are provided by the school as the learning materials. The books are based on K to 12 curriculum. For the innovation, some teachers try to find materials from other books so that the students can learn more. They sometimes will use LCD Projector to present the vide

The Day to Say Good Bye (?)

It was February 8 in the night, actually I had to pack all my things but I was not excited to do it. Instead, I was having conversation and sharing with the coordinator of my Receiving University, Dr. Gabinete and my companion from Indonesia. We talked a lot about the possibility of what will we be in the future, our future plan. It was a deep conversation indeed. We really enjoyed the moment until forgot that it was already midnight. As the consequence, even already midnight, I could not start to sleep because I had to pack my things first. While I was packing, I saw my students’ letter that I had not yet finished to read. I decided to read them all before continued my packing. Unfortunately, their letters made me sad. For the umpteenth time, I thought I was not ready to leave. However, life must go on, so I have to go. February 9 in the morning, we leaved our beloved municipality, Estancia, and went to Iloilo city. We spent the whole afternoon at Supermall, b

The Closing Program The 6th day of February was the last day of our teaching practicum. I got letters and some gifts from my students, the teachers, and student teacher in NIPSC Laboratory Junior High School. I was touched when I saw tears in some of their eyes and they sang me some songs. Actually, I almost cried but I held my tears. I did not want to be looked as a weak person and made them sadder because of me. This is the video when my cooperating teacher and my students sang me some songs on my last practicum day in NIPSC Laboratory Junior High School: Finished practicum did not mean that we had nothing to do, instead we were so busy in this last week. I had to finish checking all of my students’ work, inputting their score data to be given to my cooperating teacher, preparing the materials about Islam and Indonesia to be presented in front of Teacher Education Department Students of NIPSC, and also speech for the closing program. On Thursday, 7 th day of Febr
