Teaching Methods of The Teacher that
I Observed
From
my observations, I can conclude that the teacher uses learners-centred teaching
methods. Here she becomes a resource rather than the authority. The teacher
explains materials and then encourage students to think and understand it more
by asking almost every students in the class. The questions are also related to
real life situation, so it is really meaningful learning activities. She is also
very good in coaching students to speak English well. During the lesson, she
can make students laugh but at the same time she also can make students silent
if they are too noisy or speak dialect.
Their Learning Materials and
Innovation
Most
teachers use the books which are provided by the school as the learning
materials. The books are based on K to 12 curriculum. For the innovation, some
teachers try to find materials from other books so that the students can learn
more. They sometimes will use LCD Projector to present the video, power point
slide, pictures, etc. that can make the learning activities more interesting. However
because there is only one projector, teachers usually prepare the materials on
manila paper as the visual aid. It is better, instead of writing everything on
the board which will take much times.
Sources of Learning and Technology
Used by The Teachers
The
teachers in NIPSC Laboratory high school use K to 12 book as the main source of
learning. To attract the students’ attention, they also use technology such as
projector, speaker, internet, etc. The school also provides the comment and
suggestion box for the teachers. Students will write their perspective about
the teachers there as the evaluation for the better improvement. This means
that the teacher will also learn from the students about how to be a better
teacher in the next days.
Authentic Assessment Used by The
Teachers
Authentic
assessment is the measurement of "intellectual accomplishments that are
worthwhile, significant, and meaningful," as contrasted to multiple choice
standardized tests. Based on my observation, the teachers use performance of
the skills, oral participation, simulation, and role play as the authentic assessments.
